Morning Glory < 30 Seconds

Daily DealI don’t know about you, but I’ve been brushing up on my Zoom tutorial after the Jeffrey Toobin incident. Seriously, a nice touch for meetings is to compile Zoom tips (at least how to mute the mike and turn off camera) and forward to all attendees one day prior to call.

I got embarrassed one morning in July pulling clothes out of the dryer on an M&A call. Oxford WFH¹ fashion trend—whatever comes out of the dryer first.

Side Deal—I’m going to ask Richard and Jason from the Robbins Firm to talk about where we are legally when we record people on Zoom and send out to public domain. Do we need consent? Or disclaimer like below:

Zoom Etiquette Examples

Please note that all participants will be muted during the conversation. (time-saver)

This meeting will be recorded and by attending you are agreeing to the following: Permission to Use Recorded Program.

By the way, I talked to someone on the Toobin Zoom call. “It was a little past 9”—and that is all she wrote.

IPO Glow—Ant Group’s IPO valuation of $314 billion puts it in the same IPO league as Mastercard and JPMorgan Chase ($309 billion) but here is where it blows them away:

Ant’s systems processed 459,000 payments a second at the peak of the Singles Day shopping holiday in China last November. By contrast, Visa says it can handle 65,000 transactions a second.

Visa has hired forensic programmers to “uncode” Ant's dynamic programming—both a mathematical optimization method and a computer programming method. In both contexts it refers to simplifying a complicated problem by recursively breaking it down into simpler sub-problems.

Daddy Bill Gates says it's the one thing and only thing at Microsoft that he does not understand better than anyone else. Be curious with your CIOs. If they have not heard about it, ask them whose job is it to know about it?

Entries/Exits—It was a hot auction yesterday but MGM won a showdown for film rights on iconic comedian Richard Pryor. Adam Rosenberg will serve as executive producer, which means he will find the money to make the film. Pryor was talking about police shootings in the mid-70s and all comedy since the 80s is basically a derivative of his stand-up routines. Genius.
